India's ISMA, cooperative sugar mills seek incentives to offset early crushing losses
ISMA and NFCSF have agreed to start India's 2026-27 sugar crushing season 10-15 days early to boost festival-season supply, but are seeking government incentives to compensate for recovery losses. Pan-India ex-mill sugar prices of ₹40-40.50/kg remain below the ₹42/kg cost of production, and mills have already paid ₹1.10 lakh crore to sugarcane farmers.
