West Virginia truck driver admits $510K fuel card fraud without buying fuel
Jeffrey Jeffers, 35, of Williamstown, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to wire fraud for a fuel card scheme that generated $510,465.19 in fraudulent charges between November 2022 and July 2024, according to FreightWaves. He created fictitious service stations and processed bogus fuel purchases for trucks that rarely refueled away from the company depot. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 9, with up to 20 years in prison and $510,465.19 in restitution.
