Tax Amendment Bill 2026 proposes easier rules for offshore funds managed from India

The Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 proposes to substantially relax eligibility conditions for Eligible Investment Funds (EIFs) managed from India, removing investor thresholds and corpus requirements. The bill also replaces the June 5 ordinance that exempted FPIs from tax on G-Sec interest and capital gains, part of a broader push to attract foreign capital and support the rupee.
