Global Ship Lease expands newbuild programme with five more midsize boxships

Global Ship Lease (GSL) has ordered five more midsize containerships for about $413m, with delivery in 2029 and multi-year charters averaging 8.1 years. This brings its newbuilding programme to 15 ships, expected to generate over $1bn in adjusted EBITDA. The company also emerged as an owner behind a 13-ship order at CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding.
