Trade Niti Aayog Report: India Telecom Equipment Exports Could Hit $50 Billion by 2035
A Niti Aayog report projects India's telecom and network equipment sector can become a $50 billion export hub by 2035 under NTP-25, despite import dependence and fiscal disabilities. The Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) has urged the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to issue detailed operational guidelines for the new Transition Facilitation (Quality Control) Order, 2026, which creates an alternative compliance pathway under 10 Quality Control Orders (QCOs). GTRI warns that without transparent, time-bound approvals, the reform may replace one regulatory hurdle with another, especially given eligibility restrictions limiting access to companies incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013.
