SEA executive says 70% of world rice bran oil potential remains untapped

Around 70% of the world's rice bran oil potential remains untapped, with 5.55 million tonnes still to be explored, according to SEA Executive Director BV Mehta. Presenting at the International Conference on Rice Bran Oil 2026 in Bangkok, he said India's potential stands at 2.3 million tonnes against current production of 1.10 million tonnes. Mehta called for GST rationalisation and R&D support to unlock the opportunity.
