Urad Prices Surge 20% on Tight Supplies and Rising Rates in Myanmar and Brazil

Urad (black matpe) prices have surged about 20% over the past month, driven by tight supplies, a rebound in demand, and higher rates in Myanmar and Brazil. India's urad output fell in 2025-26, and imports from Myanmar and Brazil dropped sharply. Sowing of kharif urad was 6% lower year-on-year as of July 17, adding to supply fears.
