ICAR’s African Swine Fever vaccine to bolster India’s biosecurity
ICAR announced an indigenously developed live attenuated vaccine against African Swine Fever, developed at the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases in Bhopal. The vaccine comes after ASF outbreaks in Assam and Mizoram caused an estimated ₹1,258 crore in combined losses. ICAR said the vaccine will help reduce pig mortality, minimise economic losses and improve farmers' livelihoods.

Promising Ebola Vaccine Has Sat on the Shelf for 15 Years Despite Outbreak
Virologist Thomas Geisbert developed a promising vaccine for the Bundibugyo strain of ebola in 2011, but it has never been tested in humans or deployed. Despite a current outbreak that has infected hundreds and killed around 200, the vaccine remains on the shelf due to lack of funding and commercial interest, according to a WIRED report.
