The Wheat Products Promotion Society (WPPS) and the Uttar Pradesh Roller Flour Millers Association (UPRFMA) will jointly host a two-day conclave titled "Redefining Wheat Value Chains for a New India" in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, starting July 9, according to a statement from WPPS published on July 7. The event is expected to be one of the biggest wheat industry gatherings of the year in the country, with approximately 350 participants from 81 cities and over 50 speakers, moderators, and panellists from India and overseas.
Key Speakers and Participants
The conclave will feature key experts including Manoj Kumar Singh, CEO of the State Transformation Commission, Uttar Pradesh, and Ramesh Chand, a former NITI Aayog member, as the main addresses. The gathering will bring together leaders from multiple segments of the wheat value chain: flour milling, wheat trade, bakery, bread, biscuits, noodles, pasta, food processing, nutrition, storage, technology, commodity markets, policy, and media.
Topics and Objectives
According to the WPPS statement, the programme will provide a high-level platform to deliberate on the future of India’s wheat and wheat products value chain. The agenda covers:
- Global wheat markets, policy, weather and price risk
- Procurement, trade, storage and supply chain
- Milling technology, wheat quality, fortification and smart energy solutions
- Nutrition, bakery, staples, value addition and modern consumer products
The meet will also promote a positive message about wheat through WPPS’s “I Love Wheat” initiative, highlighting wheat’s nutritional value, versatility, cultural importance, production strength, and its vital role in India’s food security.
Industry Voices
Ajay Goyal, Chairman of WPPS, said: “Through this conclave, WPPS aims to connect, collaborate and create a stronger wheat value chain for New India.” Adi Narayan Gupta, Former Chairman of WPPS, noted that “WPPS has grown into a recognised voice of the wheat and wheat products industry. Its strength comes from members, industry leaders and stakeholders who have continuously supported seminars, technical programmes, media interactions, knowledge-sharing and industry engagement.”
Awards and Recommendations
The conclave will include the WPPS–UPRFMA Awards Ceremony, recognising outstanding leaders, companies, entrepreneurs, innovators, and professionals for their contributions to India’s wheat, flour milling, bakery, fortification, nutrition, technology, and food processing sectors. Additionally, the event will produce recommendations aimed at building a stronger, more competitive, technology-driven, and future-ready wheat value chain for India, the statement added.
