GeM completes 10 years as India's trusted digital public procurement platform

According to Akashvani / News on AIR, the Government e Marketplace (GeM) has launched a 10-day celebration ahead of its 10th Foundation Day, marking a decade of operation as India's digital public procurement platform. At the launch event, the official GeM 10th Foundation Day logo was unveiled — described in the report as symbolising a decade of the platform's journey in building India's trusted digital public procurement ecosystem.

A decade of digital public procurement

GeM Chief Executive Officer Mihir Kumar addressed the gathering at the launch, reflecting on the organisation's transformative journey over the past ten years and outlining its vision for the next phase of growth, innovation and stakeholder-centric public procurement, according to Akashvani / News on AIR. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said the launch of the celebrations marks the beginning of a year-long series of stakeholder engagement initiatives and outreach programmes across the country.

Upcoming events for buyers and sellers

The Ministry said GeM will organise a Buyer Meet on the 5th and a Seller Roundtable on the 10th of next month. According to the announcement, the occasion will honour distinguished buyers and sellers for their exemplary contributions to strengthening the GeM ecosystem.

Event Date (as announced) Announced function
Buyer Meet 5th of next month Stakeholder engagement initiative
Seller Roundtable 10th of next month Stakeholder engagement initiative; recognition of distinguished sellers

What the anniversary schedule means for B2B sellers

For sellers and marketplace operators, the Seller Roundtable on the 10th of next month is a named, official forum for engagement with GeM's stakeholder ecosystem, according to the Ministry's statement. The planned honouring of distinguished sellers is formal recognition within the platform's supplier and buyer base. The year-long series of outreach programmes across the country gives sellers a schedule of interaction points with the platform, and the Buyer Meet on the 5th offers a parallel channel for the buying side of the marketplace.

For B2B platform managers and digital trade compliance teams, the announced dates are the concrete milestones published by the Ministry for the next phase of GeM's stakeholder-centric public procurement. The 10-day celebration, the logo unveiling and the scheduled buyer and seller events together mark GeM's completion of a decade as India's digital public procurement marketplace, and the Ministry's announcement confirms that distinguished buyers and sellers will be honoured during the occasion.
