Contract logistics provider GXO Logistics posted its strongest quarterly sales performance in three years during Q2 2026, a sign of continued momentum in warehousing and third-party logistics despite a cautious global freight environment, according to FreightWaves.
Greenwich, Connecticut-based GXO (NYSE: GXO) reported second-quarter revenue of $3.4 billion, up 4.3% year over year, with organic revenue climbing 3.4% on growth across all three of the company's geographic regions, FreightWaves reported. The results follow a period of uncertainty in global freight markets, and the company's performance suggests contract logistics demand remains resilient.
Strongest commercial quarter in three years
GXO secured approximately $410 million in new business wins during the quarter, a 34% increase from a year earlier and the company's strongest quarterly commercial performance in three years, according to FreightWaves. About 40% of those wins came from aerospace and defense, technology, industrial and life sciences customers.
"Our commercial momentum is particularly evident in North America, a key growth market, where our wins in the first half of the year increased 85% over the same time last year," CEO Patrick Kelleher said in a news release, as reported by FreightWaves.
Chief Executive Officer Patrick Kelleher attributed the performance to three strategic priorities: strengthening the company's commercial organization, improving operational execution through the "GXO Way" operating model, and expanding artificial intelligence and next-generation automation through the GXO IQ platform, according to FreightWaves.
The company operates more than 970 facilities totaling approximately 200 million square feet and employs a global workforce of more than 130,000 people, making it one of the world's largest pure-play contract logistics providers, FreightWaves reported.

Cash flow improvement and 2026 outlook
Cash generation improved sharply in Q2. Operating cash flow reached $76 million, up from just $3 million in the prior-year quarter, while free cash flow totaled $12 million versus negative $43 million in Q2 2025, FreightWaves reported.
Looking ahead, GXO said it has already secured approximately $1 billion of incremental revenue for 2026, up 29% year over year, plus $353 million of incremental 2027 revenue. The company's commercial sales pipeline expanded from $2.3 billion at the end of the second quarter to approximately $2.7 billion in July, providing increased visibility into future growth, according to FreightWaves.
GXO maintained the midpoint of its 2026 financial outlook:
- Organic revenue growth of 4% to 5%
- Adjusted EBITDA of $945 million to $965 million
- Adjusted diluted EPS of $2.95 to $3.15
- Free cash flow conversion of 30% to 40%
Implications for freight forwarders and 3PL operators
For freight forwarders and 3PL operators, GXO's results signal a resilient contract logistics segment even in a cautious freight rate environment, according to the company's filing as reported by FreightWaves. The concentration of new wins in aerospace and defense, technology, industrial and life sciences suggests where warehousing demand is building. The company's expansion of its GXO IQ automation platform points to continued investment in AI-driven warehouse operations, a competitive pressure for other 3PLs.
GXO will hold a conference call with analysts at 8:30 a.m. EST on Wednesday, which may provide further detail on regional performance and pipeline conversion, FreightWaves noted.
