Ocean Installer Extends Solstad Maritime CSV Charter Through 2028 with Options to 2031

Ocean Installer has secured the Normand Vision construction support vessel (CSV) for another year, with options that could keep the vessel under charter into 2031. According to Splash247, the marine construction contractor, a Moreld subsidiary, exercised an option to extend the existing agreement for the 2014-built vessel in direct continuation of the current charter.

Charter Extension Details

The extension takes effect immediately following the current term, locking in the vessel for operations through the end of 2028, Splash247 reported. Additionally, the agreement has been amended to include two more annual options, covering 2029 and 2030, with a mechanism to further extend the contract until 2031. The vessel is owned by Solstad Maritime.

Impact on Offshore Logistics

For logistics managers involved in offshore energy and subsea construction, this extension provides continuity of specialized vessel capacity. The Normand Vision is a construction support vessel, typically used for underwater installation, maintenance, and repair work. By securing the vessel through at least 2028, Ocean Installer ensures that its project teams have dedicated support for long-term campaigns. The inclusion of options for 2029-2031 also signals intent to maintain this capacity in the medium term, reducing the risk of last-minute chartering in a tight offshore vessel market.

Long-Term Outlook

With the amended contract, Ocean Installer has built-in flexibility to respond to project windows in future years. The two annual options for 2029 and 2030, plus the mechanism to extend through 2031, mean that the vessel could remain under Ocean Installer's operational control for up to eight years from the original charter start. Shippers and subcontractors in the offshore supply chain can plan around this stable asset availability.
