Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) have introduced the Justice Against Weaponized Bureaucratic Overreach to Networked Expression (JAWBONE) Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at holding the government accountable for censorship and First Amendment violations. The bill would create a cause of action against any government agency or employee for jawboning, and allow plaintiffs to seek monetary damages. Despite bipartisanship, Cruz and Wyden clashed over which administration is more guilty of censorship.
