Commodities MOL acquires Shell's Aphrodite gas field stake in Cyprus for up to $720m
Hungarian energy group MOL has signed a deal to buy BG Cyprus, Shell's subsidiary holding a 35% non-operated interest in the Aphrodite gas field offshore Cyprus, for up to $720m. The field holds an estimated 104bn cubic metres of contingent gas plus 8m barrels of condensate, with first gas expected in 2031.
Logistics MOL and NYK Sign Long-Term Ammonia Carrier Charters with JERA for US-Japan Low-Carbon Fuel Supply
Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) have each signed long-term charter contracts with JERA for four very large gas carriers (VLGCs) to transport low-carbon ammonia from the US to Japan. The vessels, built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, will support JERA's ammonia co-firing project at Hekinan Thermal Power Station, marking Japan's first large-scale low-carbon ammonia value chain.
