The firm Aurora programme rises to 18 vessels, with options and reserved slots that could take the series to 26 ships and add almost 237,000 ceu of capacity, according to Splash247.
Logistics Car Carrier Operators Form GRC Council to Improve Emissions Data Accuracy
A coalition of car carrier operators representing around 80% of global capacity has established the GRC Council to maintain and improve its GHG accounting methodology. ClassNK, the GRC's independent verifier, drafted the new governance framework and will provide verification services for emissions data. The move aims to strengthen confidence in Scope 3 reporting under FuelEU Maritime and IMO GHG measures.

Ningbo Ocean Shipping has entered the car carrier market with a new Europe ro-ro service using the 7,000 ceu LNG dual-fuel vessel Clean Star. The maiden voyage is loading more than 5,400 new energy vehicles at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port for Gioia Tauro and Barcelona, according to Splash247. The service launches as Chinese vehicle exports jump 65.3% year-on-year in H1 2026.
Logistics Wagenborg exits roro sector with Wallenius SOL sale of ice-class duo
Royal Wagenborg is leaving the pure roro sector, selling ice-class sister vessels Bothniaborg and Balticborg to Wallenius SOL. The deal transfers a long-term contract of affreightment with Smurfit Westrock covering kraftliner cargo from Piteå, Sweden. Wallenius SOL will continue the service before integrating it into its wider northern European network.
