Logistics Suriname FPSO GranMorgu to Test First-of-Its-Kind Kite-Assisted Towing Across Pacific
A joint venture of SBM Offshore, Technip Energies and TotalEnergies has agreed with Beyond the Sea to trial a kite-assisted towing system on the GranMorgu FPSO for Suriname. The technology, used for the first time on an FPSO, aims to reduce fuel consumption and towing duration during the vessel's voyage from China to Suriname. If successful, it could open a new decarbonization pathway for large-scale maritime towing.
Commodities TotalEnergies Awards Halliburton Integrated Drilling Contract for GranMorgu Offshore Suriname
Houston-based Halliburton has secured integrated well construction contracts from TotalEnergies for the GranMorgu deepwater project in Block 58, offshore Suriname. The agreement includes drilling and completion services, with Halliburton deploying digital and automated execution to improve performance and reduce costs. First oil is expected in 2028, with production capacity of up to 220,000 barrels per day.
