Lloyd’s Register Appoints Matthias Altendorf as New Chair

Lloyd’s Register Group has announced the appointment of Matthias Altendorf as the new chair of its boards, succeeding Thomas Thune Andersen at the end of his tenure in June 2027. Altendorf's extensive experience in industrial leadership and digital expertise is expected to enhance Lloyd’s Register's capabilities in the maritime industry.

Leadership Transition

Matthias Altendorf will take over as chair of Lloyd’s Register Group and Lloyd’s Register Foundation, following the departure of Thomas Thune Andersen. Altendorf's career spans nearly four decades at the Swiss-based Endress+Hauser Group, where he served as CEO from 2014 to 2023 and later as chair of its supervisory board. His leadership is characterized by a focus on industrial innovation and digital transformation.

Strategic Vision

Nick Brown, CEO of Lloyd’s Register, expressed confidence in Altendorf’s leadership, highlighting his inspirational global leadership and diverse experience. Brown stated that Altendorf's appointment would be a significant asset as the organization continues to evolve its services to meet the dynamic needs of the maritime industry.
