Godrej Agrovet inaugurates ₹300-cr integrated oil palm complex in Telangana's Khammam

Godrej Agrovet Ltd on Monday inaugurated an integrated oil palm complex in Khammam, Telangana, established at a total investment of ₹300 crore, according to a regulatory filing. The complex brings together every stage of the oil palm value chain under one roof – seed and genetics, nursery, R&D centre, mill and an upcoming state-of-the-art refinery.

Integrated Complex Overview

The complex, inaugurated by Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu Garu, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Finance & Planning, Energy, Government of Telangana, marks a significant step in the state's oil palm mission. The mill at the complex, the first set up by a private company in the state, has begun operations with a capacity of 30 tonnes per hour and is designed for expansion to 60 tonnes per hour. The complex also houses a Samadhan Centre, a one-stop resource for oil palm farmers offering advisory support and access to farm inputs and other services.

Expansion and Capacity Plans

The expansion is aimed at supporting Godrej Agrovet's plan to increase its oil palm plantation area in Telangana to 30,000 hectares by 2030, from 10,000 hectares currently. The company's cumulative investment will be ₹300 crore once the entire complex is operational, the filing stated. | Metric | Current | Target (2030) | |--------|---------|----------------| | Plantation area (hectares) | 10,000 | 30,000 | | Mill capacity (tonnes/hour) | 30 | 60 |

State Support and Industry Impact

Burjis Godrej, Chairperson Designate of Godrej Agrovet, commented: "This complex is a landmark for Telangana's oil palm mission and for our vision of making the state a leading edible oil producer. Telangana's oil palm mission is transforming the lives of lakhs of farming households while strengthening the nation's edible oil security." Sunil Kataria, Managing Director and CEO of Godrej Agrovet, added: "With the entire oil palm value chain under one roof, we gain greater control over quality and consistency, and it reflects our confidence in Telangana's potential to lead the nation's edible oil security journey while uplifting farming families." Godrej Agrovet, part of the Godrej Industries Group, is one of the leading food and agri businesses in the country, with a presence across animal feed, crop protection, dairy, food, and oil palm segments. The integrated complex is expected to support India's edible oil self-sufficiency by boosting domestic palm oil production, reducing reliance on imports. For commodity traders and analysts, this development signals a long-term supply increase from Telangana, potentially influencing regional palm oil pricing dynamics in the coming years.
