Deezer has unveiled an online AI music detector that allows users to scan their playlists across multiple streaming platforms for AI-generated content. The tool, launched on June 11, 2026, according to Engadget and TechRadar, works with Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, and other services. Users can access the tool via Deezer's AI music detection website and provide access to their chosen streaming service. Deezer will then automatically import all playlists and return a percentage of AI tracks.
Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier stated, according to Engadget: "No other company has followed our lead yet, so we decided to make it possible for everyone to check if their playlists include synthetic music, no matter which streaming platform they use. Our data show that nearly half of the users joining Deezer from another platform have AI tracks in their playlists." Deezer has previously noted that 75,000 AI-generated songs are uploaded to its platform each day, representing 44% of total uploads. Of those, up to 85% are fraudulent, copying songs by human artists and effectively stealing their royalties. Deezer says it can find those with over 99% accuracy.
The launch comes amid ongoing controversy over AI-generated music on streaming services. A TechRadar article by Rowan Davies (June 10, 2026) addressed user allegations that Spotify is deliberately creating AI artist profiles and bios. Davies argued that Spotify does not upload AI music; every song is processed through a label or distributor such as DistroKid and Ditto Music. Spotify has added 'Verified by Spotify' labels to help identify human artists.

Another TechRadar piece by Tom Bedford (June 11, 2026) tested the Deezer detector on his Spotify account, receiving a 0% AI score. He noted that Apple Music users experienced longer wait times and occasional crashes, but Spotify and Tidal scans were quick. The tool allows users to save a badge to post on social media.
Deezer's approach differs from rivals: while Apple Music and Spotify flag AI-generated music, Deezer blocks it completely from suggestions and editorial playlists. The company has also made its AI-detection technology available to other streaming companies.
