Amber Enterprises will start producing smartphones for Oppo, OnePlus and Realme next year, targeting around 8 million units in its first year, according to a Business-Today report on an earnings call with executive chairman and CEO Jasbir Singh. Business-Today described the Indian electronics manufacturer as making a big push into smartphone manufacturing. The contract manufacturing move marks Amber's entry into mobile phone assembly and gives three Chinese consumer electronics brands an additional India-based production route, the report said.
Production timeline and first-year capacity
The announcement sets a two-step production curve, according to Business-Today. Trial production is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of FY27, followed by commercial production in the first quarter of FY28. Amber plans to reach roughly 8 million devices in the first year of operations, with output nearly doubling to 15–16 million units in the second year.

Collaboration agreement and management structure
Singh disclosed the arrangement during the company's earnings call. According to Business-Today, the manufacturing collaboration agreement with Oppo Mobiles India covers device production for Oppo, OnePlus and Realme. The executive chairman and CEO described the group's new direction:
"Our group is set to foray into mobile phones through a manufacturing collaboration agreement with Oppo Mobiles India. The scope covers three brands, Oppo, OnePlus and Realme," Singh said.
Business-Today added that Amber has appointed a chief operating officer for its mobile vertical and is working with Oppo on execution milestones. The agreement therefore pairs a dedicated COO-level management layer for phones with a defined set of execution milestones agreed with Oppo, according to Business-Today. Under this structure, Amber Enterprises acts as the contract manufacturer under an agreement with Oppo Mobiles India.
Domestic focus before exports
Business-Today reported that Amber is exploring exports, but Singh said immediate priority would be establishing new business domestically before looking abroad. The sequence puts domestic ramp-up ahead of any overseas shipments, according to Business-Today.
Manufacturing strategy shift
Business-Today said the move signals a shift in manufacturing strategy of Chinese smartphone brands in India. For Amber's electronics manufacturing operations, the expansion adds a consumer electronics device line producing smartphones. The disclosed volumes set the scale for OEM sourcing teams tracking India contract-manufacturing capacity: around 8 million units in the first year and 15–16 million units in the second, according to Business-Today.
