Ming Yang Targets Stake in 2GW Canadian Offshore Wind Project

Ming Yang Smart Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding with Oceanic Wind Energy to explore a strategic investment in a 2GW offshore wind project located in the Hecate Strait off British Columbia. This project, spearheaded by Coast Tsimshian Enterprises and Oceanic Wind Energy, aims to leverage the region's robust wind resources, which are among the strongest globally.

Strategic Investment in Renewable Energy

The Hecate Strait project promises to generate between 1.5GW and 2GW of clean electricity, significantly contributing to British Columbia's renewable energy goals. The region's wind speeds exceed 10 meters per second, with annual capacity factors over 50% and winter factors reaching 65%. These figures highlight the project's potential to meet peak demand periods for BC Hydro.

Partnership and Development Plans

Under the non-binding MOU, Ming Yang will evaluate opportunities for equity investment, debt financing, and strategic partnership support. The investment's size and scope will be determined during a 90-day due diligence period.
