The Union Cabinet has approved seven major decisions covering infrastructure, semiconductor manufacturing, mobile phone production, fertiliser and railway projects. The package includes Semicon 2.0, the Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS) and the National Investment Policy for Urea-2026, with a combined outlay of Rs 2,19,353 crore. Key projects include a 46-km link corridor in Varanasi, doubling of Paradeep-Haridaspur railway line, and a fourth line between Dangoaposi and Rajkharsawan.
Commodities India Cabinet Approves Slashing Broken Grain in PDS Rice, Diverts 100% Broken to Ethanol
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved a phased reduction in broken grain content in PDS rice from 25% to 10% for raw rice and from 16% to 5% for parboiled rice by 2027-28. The separated 100% broken rice will be channelled to ethanol production, reducing logistics costs by ₹2,161 crore annually and improving quality under PMGKAY.
Cabinet clears Rs 14,115 crore highway projects in Delhi, UP; approves Rs 6,970 crore 6-lane Dwarka tunnel
The Union Cabinet approved two highway infrastructure projects worth a combined Rs 14,114.81 crore. The projects include an 8.1-km six-lane tunnel in Delhi and a 117.7-km greenfield highway in Uttar Pradesh. They are expected to improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and generate significant employment.

The Expenditure Finance Committee under the Finance Ministry has cleared a Rs 1.25 lakh crore outlay for India Semiconductor Mission 2.0, significantly higher than the first phase's Rs 76,000 crore. The proposal now goes to the Union Cabinet for approval. The mission aims to deepen domestic chip manufacturing, supporting equipment, materials, and indigenous designs, with 12 projects already approved under Phase 1.
