Logistics U.S. Government Plans First Nuclear Power Tests on Ships at Port of Long Beach
The U.S. Maritime Administration will sign a first-ever agreement with the Port of Long Beach to test small modular reactors (SMRs) for commercial vessels and port power. Separately, startup Bluecore Energy raised $10 million to develop floating barge-mounted SMRs. The testing could eventually reduce emissions and change energy use at the busiest U.S. container port.

At the Adani Group AGM, chairman Gautam Adani announced plans to develop 10 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2035 via Adani Atomic Energy. He highlighted a record Rs 1.5 lakh crore infrastructure spend in FY26 and expansion across power, transmission, and low-carbon energy. The group aims to increase power generation capacity to 45 GW in five years.

CORE POWER and BWX Technologies have launched a feasibility study to assess the deployment of floating nuclear power plants (FNPPs) built in shipyards. The study will evaluate the mPower small modular reactor for marine deployment, aiming to reduce installation times from years to days. The project targets industrialised manufacturing methods to accelerate nuclear energy supply.
Trade India Grants Retrospective Customs Duty Relief on Nuclear Power Equipment Import
India's Finance Ministry issued a notification granting retrospective customs duty relief on imports of select nuclear power generation equipment. The relief covers goods imported from April 2019 to January 2026, ensuring importers face no retrospective duty claims.
