It Takes Time to Restart Plants: Hormuz Reopening May Not Ease Fertiliser Woes Anytime Soon

Industry executives warn that fertiliser availability and prices may take three to four months to normalise despite the anticipated reopening of the Strait of Hormuz under a tentative US-Iran peace deal. Ammonia prices could stabilise within 1-2 months, but sulphur prices remain elevated at $815-$1,200/tonne and may rise further before easing towards December. Shipping disruptions and plant restarts will delay supply recovery.
