India's Regenerative Agri Conference: A Step Towards Resilience

India is set to host a pivotal conference on regenerative agriculture, aiming to tackle pressing issues of food security and climate resilience. Organized by The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and the Confederation of Indian Industry Food and Agriculture Centre of Excellence (CII FACE), the two-day event will take place in New Delhi on June 2-3.

Focus on Sustainable Practices

The conference will delve into sustainable agricultural practices and their impact. The first day will highlight these practices, while the second day will focus on innovations in agri-food resilience, financing models, and policy pathways. Insights will be drawn from TNC’s PRANA programme, which has been working across 6,286 villages in Punjab.

Multi-Stakeholder Engagement

A media statement emphasized the importance of a multi-stakeholder platform to explore solutions for scaling regenerative agriculture. The PRANA programme has engaged over 650,000 farmers to reduce crop residue burning and promote regenerative rice management practices.

"Four years of PRANA have shown that sustainable food systems are within reach - if we act together," said Sushil Saigal, Interim Managing Director, Nature Conservancy India Solutions.

Private Sector Participation

Sanjay Sacheti, Co-Chairman, CII National Council on Agriculture and Country Head, Olam Agro, stressed the need for private sector involvement. He highlighted opportunities for investment through blended finance and supply chain integration.
