Amazon Relay Enhances Safety and Prepares for Prime Day

Freight fraud poses a significant risk in the trucking industry, affecting carriers and shippers alike. Amazon Relay is addressing this issue with a comprehensive approach that includes layered verification systems and a new safety incentive program. These efforts are particularly timely as the company gears up for the increased demand of Prime Day.

Tackling Freight Fraud

Amazon Relay's strategy begins with rigorous screening processes for carriers and drivers. Monika Joshi, from Amazon Relay, emphasized the importance of direct relationships with carriers, eliminating subcontracting and middlemen. This closed system ensures that all loads originate from Amazon or approved third-party shippers, reducing opportunities for fraud.

"Freight fraud doesn’t just hurt shippers. It can hurt honest carriers who can get caught in the middle," Joshi said.

Enhancing Safety Measures

Amazon Relay is also investing in safety infrastructure. New trailers feature roll-up doors and rollover-prevention braking systems. Additionally, the Relay safety rewards program incentivizes carriers to maintain safe driving practices. Carriers can earn bonuses for collision-free miles using dashcams from providers like Motive, Netradyne, and Verizon Connect.

  • Safety Rewards Program: Carriers earn 1-4 cents extra per collision-free mile.
  • Dashcam Subsidies: Amazon supports hardware and installation costs.

Preparing for Prime Day

With Prime Day arriving in June, Amazon Relay is preparing for a surge in freight volume. The platform offers various load opportunities, including power-only work and options for carriers with their own equipment. Carriers are encouraged to position themselves now to take advantage of the upcoming demand spike.

  • Prime Day Incentive: Carriers completing 7 loads by July 11, 2026, earn $1,500.
  • Load Opportunities: Includes dry vans, reefers, and box trucks.

Implications for Carriers

For carriers, these initiatives present an opportunity to enhance operational security and profitability. By participating in the safety rewards program and preparing for Prime Day, carriers can maximize their earnings while minimizing risks associated with freight fraud.

Program Benefit
Safety Rewards Up to 4 cents extra per mile
Prime Day Incentive $1,500 for 7 loads

Carriers should consider enrolling in Amazon Relay to leverage these benefits and ensure they are well-positioned for the upcoming peak season.
