Modec has been awarded a contract to supply a SOFEC internal turret mooring system for the Coral Norte FLNG project offshore Mozambique, according to a report by Splash247.
Project Overview
The Coral Norte FLNG development is operated by Eni in partnership with CNPC, ENH, XRG, and Kogas. The project reached a final investment decision (FID) in October 2025, and the hull was launched in January 2026 at Samsung Heavy’s Geoje shipyard in South Korea. First LNG is targeted for 2028.
Critical Mooring System
The turret mooring system is described by Modec as a "mission‑critical element of FLNG performance, enabling safe weathervaning, high uptime, and resilient operations in the metocean conditions of the Rovuma Basin." This system allows the FLNG vessel to rotate around a fixed point, maintaining position and stability in varying wind and current conditions.
