U.S. Logistics Firms Expand Amid Freight Growth

Logistics companies are making significant expansions across the United States, driven by increasing freight demand and the need for enhanced warehousing and transportation capabilities. Averitt Express, Page Trucking, and Echo Global Logistics are among the key players investing in new facilities and workforce development.

Averitt's Major Terminal Expansions

Averitt Express is undertaking substantial expansions with new regional campuses in Louisville, Kentucky, and near Charlotte Douglas International Airport, North Carolina. The Louisville campus will feature a 50,000-square-foot cross-dock terminal, expandable to 160 doors, and over 286,000 square feet of warehouse space. This project is expected to create 64 new jobs while retaining 182 existing positions. The Charlotte facility will include a 150-door cross-dock, expandable to 200 doors, and more than 500,000 square feet of warehouse space, doubling the local workforce by adding 211 associates.

"The [Louisville] campus will allow us to provide faster, more adaptable, and more efficient service," said Barry Blakely, President and COO of Averitt.

Page Trucking's Workforce Development

Page Trucking is investing $514,000 in its Morgantown, Kentucky facility to expand its diesel technician apprenticeship program. This initiative is set to create 10 new jobs and support the company's growth in diesel maintenance and transportation services.

Echo Global's Refrigerated Network Expansion

Echo Global Logistics is expanding its EchoChill refrigerated less-than-truckload network with a new cooler facility in Sacramento, California. This expansion aims to enhance the company's capacity to handle temperature-controlled freight, meeting the growing demand in the region.
