India's South-West Monsoon Begins Over Kerala

Executive Summary

The South-West Monsoon, a key weather event for India making up over 75 per cent of the annual rainfal, set in over Kerala this morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of south-west and south-east Arabian Sea, some parts of west-central and east-central Arabian Sea, entire Lakshadweep islands, Kerala and Mahe, some parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, remaining parts of Comorin area, southeast Bay of Bengal and some more parts of southwest, westcentral, eastcentral and northeast Bay of Bengal.
